Arabic Knafeh (Gazan Style)
Arabic Knafeh is a unique Palestinian dessert made with semolina and bulgur instead of pastry strands. It features a rich filling of walnuts and cinnamon, offering an authentic traditional flavor.

Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina soaked in 1 cup oil and ghee
- 1 cup fine bulgur (with a little coarse bulgur)
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1 tbsp baking powder, vanilla
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- Walnuts for filling
- Sugar syrup
- Pistachios for garnish
Steps
- 1Combine all ingredients (semolina mixture, bulgur, coconut, sugar, milk, flour, baking powder) and mix well.
- 2Grease the tray with tahini and ghee, then spread half of the mixture as a first layer.
- 3Add a generous layer of walnuts and cinnamon, then cover with the remaining mixture.
- 4Bake in the oven for at least 30 minutes until fully cooked.
- 5Once browned, remove from oven and immediately pour sugar syrup over it.
- 6Garnish with pistachios and serve hot.
