Mabrousha (Grated Jam Tart)
A famous Palestinian home-style dessert, loved for its crumbly texture and sweet jam filling. It features a unique grated dough topping that gives it a beautiful golden look.

Ingredients
- 1 cup ghee and 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 packet baking powder, 3 packets vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Orange and lemon zest
- 6 cups of flour (as needed)
- Jam (strawberry or apricot) for filling
Steps
- 1Mix sugar with ghee and oil, then add eggs and vanilla and blend well.
- 2Add orange and lemon zest, then gradually add flour and baking powder until a soft dough forms.
- 3Grease the tray with tahini and a pinch of flour, then spread 3/4 of the dough in the tray.
- 4Spread the jam evenly over the dough layer.
- 5Grate the remaining 1/4 of the dough over the jam until completely covered.
- 6Bake at medium temperature until golden brown.
